In this role, you will greet clients and visitors to the centre and assist them in finding their program or appointment area.  You will also complete some administrative tasks such as photocopying, computer work and some telephone calling.  This position requires a commitment to a 3-4 hour shift per week.  Some experience working with the public would be an asset.

As a member of this team, you will help plan our monthly Culture Kitchen cooking and nutrition program, held the 4th Friday of the month. The day of the program you will be here helping participants prepare recipes from that month’s featured culture.  The members of this group also meet once a month for a planning meeting.  The total time commitment for this role is approximately 5-6 hours per month.  Some experience with cooking is needed for this role.

Do you love to cook?  Interested in sharing your cultural background and the recipes that are a part of your country of origin?  In this monthly program, the Guest Chef would meet with our dietician to choose recipes that reflect your heritage.  Then, the day of the program (last Friday of the month) you would work with our core volunteers and staff to help program participants prepare the recipes in our teaching kitchen.  As everyone enjoys lunch together, you would give a presentation on your culture so we can all learn the background behind the delicious food we are enjoying!  This one time volunteer role is perfect for those who can’t make an ongoing volunteer commitment. This would require about 4-5 hours of volunteer time for the day you are our Guest Chef.

Working as part of a volunteer team with the support of staff, develop strategies to raise funds to provide for programs and services for our clients. Fund development will focus on corporate partnerships and foundations rather than on special events. Volunteers should have experience with fund development and community partnerships. Time commitment is approximately 2 hours per month.
